Kris Lorch, NHMA Board Member and Jerry Clupper, NHMA Executive Director attended the Manufacturing Technology TTAC meeting at Platt Tech recently. A few highlights include: Meeting the new principal Patricia DeCoster. The $2500 credit we provided at MSC is especially appreciated this year since the state funds for supplies have not yet been disbursed even though the class year has started. The Tooling U seats provided by CBIA and NHMA are being used by 22 students in the 10th grade class. Initial results are very positive. Students are not only using the materials but are doing the learning and testing at home on their own time. Tooling U is using Platt as the model for successful integration of their product for schools throughout the entire USA. NIMS continues to evolve and be more user friendly. It is now integrated into all classes. Lean principles have been added the curriculum after successful training classes this summer (CBIA). NHMA will provide a letter supporting the positive effects of the Platt program to help convince HAAS to continue the machine entrustment program which provides two of the CNC machines in the shop.
